Role: Game Design, Illustration, Animation, Interaction Design
Primary tools:Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash/Animate, Premier
Overview: I’ve had the opportunity to bring imaginative worlds to life for various children’s games. At Amaze Entertainment and Hidden City Games, I developed art, animation, and interaction design elements across a range of games including puzzle games, an RPG online game, and animation for iconic PC titles like Rugrats, Magic School Bus, and Easy Bake Oven. At the Smithsonian, I created an interactive game for children that combined cultural storytelling with interactive edutainment elements and included illustration, animation, and interactive UI.
Process: My work in interaction design included concepting, user testing with children, prototyping, and development using various coding and scripting environments. Animation included click-point game animations, special effects, character animation and UI elements. Illustration included game maps, game environments, HUD, UI elements, avatars, NPCs, skins, inventory, etc. I also served as art and technical art lead, art directing and creating extensive technical art specs with the art and dev team.
Results: Through thoughtful visual design and interactive features, these projects successfully engaged young users and fostered a sense of creativity and curiosity and provided fun, educational gameplay for thousands of children.
